1930 Chris Craft 24ft 103 Runabout “Triple Cockpit Raised Deck”

The iconic 103 runabout, commonly referred to as the Triple Cockpit Raised Deck, is one of the most recognizable and sought-after early models produced by Chris-Craft. Built between 1928 and 1931, only 627 examples were produced, making surviving boats highly collectible among classic wooden boat enthusiasts. With its elegant raised foredeck, triple cockpit layout, and long sweeping lines, the 103 perfectly represents the golden age of American runabouts and the craftsmanship that made Chris-Craft famous.

This particular 1930 example was restored to exceptionally high standards by a respected restoration shop back East before eventually making its way to Lake Tahoe in 2009. Since arriving in Tahoe, the boat has been carefully stored and professionally maintained by Sierra Boat Company, one of the most well-known classic boat service facilities in the region. In the winter of 2019–2020, the boat received additional cosmetic refinishing when Northwest Classic Boats completed new stain and varnish on both the decks and hull sides, further enhancing the boat’s already stunning presentation.

The boat features a modern “no soak” bottom, a highly desirable upgrade for classic wooden boats that allows the boat to be launched and used without the need for the hull to swell and seal, providing convenience and confidence for regular enjoyment on the water.

Power comes from a classic Chris-Craft MCL engine producing approximately 175 horsepower, delivering smooth and reliable performance while maintaining the authenticity and spirit of the original powerplant. The engine complements the boat perfectly, providing the performance expected from a classic runabout of this caliber.

Additional highlights include a new custom waterline cover designed to protect the boat while stored, as well as a 1997 dual-axle Performance Trailers trailer that makes transportation and launching straightforward and convenient.

Beautifully restored, carefully maintained, and equipped with thoughtful upgrades for usability, this 1930 Chris-Craft 103 Triple Cockpit Raised Deck represents an exceptional opportunity to own one of the most iconic wooden runabouts ever built—an elegant piece of boating history that is equally suited for relaxed lake cruising, classic boat shows, or inclusion in a distinguished collection.
