1942 Chris Craft 19ft Custom Runabout
The iconic custom runabout, also known as the Barrel Back, was produced from 1939 to 1942, with a total of 433 hulls produced. They represented the highest level of craftsmanship Chris Craft ever offered because it required skilled craftsmen to produce the full half circle transom shape. These boats were the inspiration for Carlo Riva and his legendary Ariston and Aquarama models.
This 1942 Chris Craft 19ft Custom Runabout is being sold by its third owner and has been used on Lake Tahoe for more than 30 years. The boat was originally delivered from the factory to Los Angeles before going to Lake Arrowhead to the original owner in 42’.
In 2018 this boat received new upholstery by Rod’s Stitched Interiors in Petaluma, California. These Runabouts were originally offered with either green, maroon, or tan leather interiors however the current seller had the new upholstery done in a sort of grayish-blue out of personal preference. In 2019 the varnish was completely stripped down and redone by Tony Brown from Western Runabouts in Auburn, California.
This Chris Craft was repowered by Sierra Boat Company for the 2nd owner with a six-cylinder Chris Craft MBL engine with 158 hp. It was repowered to perform at Lake Tahoe’s higher altitude.
The boat features a fiberglass bottom for no leak usability and a custom waterline cover.
