1966 Donzi Sweet 16

The Sweet 16 was the masterpiece of Don Aronow and the first boat offered by his company, Donzi Marine. Since going into production in 1964, with a gap in the late 1970s and early 1980s, this boat has been something of a little-known jewel. Its 50-plus mph top speed at sea level feels like a whole lot more, and with the type of handling only a small boat can offer, it’s incredibly fun to drive.

This Donzi will turn heads with its red stripe on white color scheme. Besides its undeniable good looks, the Donzi 16 was a sensation because of its performance. This boat is powered by a Ford 260 V8 with a Holman Moody Marine outdrive. The engine was rebuilt by Sierra Boat Company in the winter of 2014 and has only been used in Lake Tahoe’s fresh water. The rebuilt engine has less than 100 hours on it.

In 1966 this Donzi arrived at Sierra Boat Company new from the factory. Sierra Boats General Manager at that time, Dick Clarke, bought the boat for his personal use. The current seller bought the boat in 1978 and has used it on Tahoe only. The seller has an extensive record file that will come with the boat.

This boat comes on a 1966 custom Nor-Cal Trailers single axle trailer. It is protected by a full cover and a cockpit snap on tonneau cover.
