1973 Chris Craft XK22

The Chris Craft XK22 was advertised as a rocket ready to take off! Between 1971 and 1976, Chris Craft made only 230 hulls of the XK22. In 1973, only 75 hulls were built making this boat #72 out of 75 manufactured that year.

Over the 60’s and 70’s, Chris-Craft made the transition from wooden mahogany runabouts to fiberglass runabouts. The fiberglass runabouts were built to last longer and had cheaper maintenance costs. The XK22 is recognized as one of the first fiberglass boats commercialized by Chris Craft.

The XK22 model attracts collectors as it was at the time a symbol of luxury and modernity made for the sophisticated gentlemen. Its deep V hull was designed by Jim Wayne, while Dick Avery was in charge of the successful design of the deck.

This 1973 Chris Craft XK22 was fully restored by Vogue Marine in Boulder City, Nevada. This included tearing the boat down to its basic structure then completely re-gel coating the boat in Chevrolet Bel Air turquoise and ivory white with chrome accents. It features an entirely new and pristine white and turquoise interior complete with custom seats designed like racing seats. This restoration took place over several years and was completed in 2015, accumulating into the impressive vessel it is today. All records for the restoration are available, as the seller has over $100k invested in the boat and custom trailer.

This XK22 is powered by a Corvette 350 engine with 320 hp. The engine has been enhanced with high performance exhaust and ignition system. Sierra Boat Company performed an engine rebuild that was completed in the spring of 2022. Attention to detail is evident when viewing this engine with no expense spared.

This boat has only been used once after the restoration and then stored to preserve its pristine condition. Features on this 1973 Chris Craft XK22 include a new custom bimini top, a new sand weighted cockpit cover, a transportation cover, Sirius Satellite Radio, custom sun pad over the engine hatch, reinforced fiberglass on the deck bow for walking on, cuddy cabin under bow deck with custom cushions, and a 2016 custom California Trailer Works Inc. dual axle trailer which is painted to match.

Rhythm & Blues won a first place in the 2015 South Lake Tahoe boat show.
